Tucked into the Carmel Hotel, El Gaucho is one of Israel's best kosher steak houses. Decorated in a rustic style, the restaurant is dominated by a dramatic view of the sea. South American-style meat specialties, among them thick slabs of beef, are cooked over embers on a giant grill. Juicy steaks, grilled fish, and chicken (often done on a spit) are highlights, and the wine list is extensive.
