Farafra Oasis

Farafra is what most people picture when they imagine a desert oasis: bubbling springs, a lush garden, a little village, and a vast desert all around. The immense sky and endless desert add to the hushed atmosphere. People here are quiet, polite, and reserved. A local story tells of how the people of Farafra once lost track of time and had to send a rider to Dakhla to find out what day it was so they could perform the Friday prayer on the correct day. There are only a few ruins at Farafra, none of them interesting enough for the typical tourist to spend much time viewing, especially with the White Desert close at hand. A dynamic natural wonder that you can explore in numerous ways, the White Desert is the centerpiece of any trip to Farafra.
