$$$$, Continental, Cairo
Fodor's Review:
On the top floor of the Nile Hilton, this eatery exudes ocean-liner opulence, with alabaster lamps, a multilevel open-plan room, a piano tinkling in the background, and a small marble dance floor awaiting a twirl. The focal point is the panoramic view of the city, which, despite the wall of windows, you can only appreciate from up close. The menu is one of the most ambitious in town, and the specialty of the house is homemade foie gras, smooth and buttery, served with caramelized onions on walnut wafers. The restaurant has added a few more vegetarian dishes (still a rare find in Cairo), such as mushroom and potato pyramids topped with tomato-mango chutney. But it is the classic seafood and meat grills that excel. If you can find room for dessert, try the red-berry sabayon with pistachio ice cream.
