Any doubts you may have about the grandeur and refinement of Indian cuisine won't survive a visit to the Moghul Room. The setting in the arches-and-romance splendor of the Mena House could hardly be more sublime, and the Indian trio that plays during dinner creates a seductive aural backdrop to a spectacular meal: luscious, yogurt-marinated tandoori; rich, buttery masala (a classic blend of spices); tender dal cooked slowly over a flame; chicken or shrimp biryani (a baked rice dish)—all accompanied by delicious, freshly baked breads. The best of the desserts are kulfi (a slightly grainy ice cream infused with pistachio and cardamom) and gulab jamun (fried milk balls).

We ate here our first night at Mena House and what a lovely experience! Music, fine food, and a great atmosphere. A lovely start to our Egypt tour!

with musical background, exquisite furniture, delicious food. A really great restaurant in the Mena House which by itself is a wonder to behold. A must for romantics and history buffs.
