This Art Nouveau hotel never quite lives up to the old-world grandeur of its entrance. As you walk in, the exquisite tilework, revolving wooden door, and glimpses of stained glass all prepare you for an atmosphere that the tasteful but generic renovation swept out a while back. Still, the irregularly shaped rooms and dark wood furniture are pleasant, and the corner rooms with wraparound balconies give a nice vantage point on the city's colonial downtown. The service and level of cleanliness are reflected in the budget price. Avoid the restaurant.
