The Mohgul Room sets the bar very high for Indian cuisine in Cairo. The setting in the arches-and-romance splendor of the Mena House could hardly be more sublime, and Indian musicians create a seductive aural backdrop. Try luscious, yogurt-marinated tandoori; rich, buttery masala (a classic blend of spices); or tender dal cooked slowly over a flame—all accompanied by delicious, fresh-baked breads. The best of the desserts are kulfi (a slightly grainy ice cream infused with pistachio and cardamom) and gulab jamun (fried milk balls). The restaurant is open for lunch only on Friday from 1–3.
