Kitchener's Island Review

Also known as the Island of Plants, Kitchener's Island is named after Lord Horatio Kitchener, famed for his campaigns in the Sudan at the start of the 20th century, his role as Consul General in Egypt, and his love of exotic trees and plants. The island's enchanting botanical garden, which he endowed, is proof of the latter, and the birds just love it. A public ferry will take you here for £E1, but you should also be able to hire a private felucca for about £E10—just be sure to negotiate a price in advance and make sure the felucca captain knows to come back and pick you up at an agreed-upon time.

    Kitchener's Island Review

It's a pretty place but there are so many other more interesting things to do in Aswan.
