North of Aswan

The temple of Sobek at Kom Ombo is the first stop on many Nile cruise itineraries; it's a widely visited and popular temple. For those not on Nile cruises, it's also possible to see it on a day trip from Aswan, or as a stopover on the way from Luxor to Aswan on the overland route. Lesser known is the camel market at Daraw, which remains a more local institution, having not turned into merely a tourist destination.
