24 Shar'a Amin Fikhry, Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt
A rather basic hotel, Sea Star's greatest appeal is its location. If you are on a budget, it's a clean if uninspiring option that's close to the tram station and within walking distance of Downtown, the museum, and the library. Decor is minimalist 1980s kitsch against a backdrop of plain, whitewashed walls, but the rooms are spacious. The Sea Star restaurant offers Egyptian and European dishes and claims 24-hour room service, but it seems little used. Head into the city for better eating options.
- clean option for the price
- location means you're in the heart of the action but on a quieter side street
- very ordinary decor
- disinterested front desk staff
- prices can change on a whim, so make sure to haggle
