Electricity in Botswana

Electricity

More Travel Tips »

To use electric-powered equipment purchased in the United States or Canada, bring a converter and adapter. If your appliances are dual-voltage, you'll need only an adapter. The electrical current is 220 volts, 50 cycles alternating current (AC); wall outlets usually take 15-amp plugs with three round prongs, but some take the straight-edged three-prong plugs, also 15 amps. Most of the lodges and camps have their own generators, so you're able to charge your cameras and other electronic equipment. Bring a reading light if you intend to read in bed at night, as tent and chalet lights tend to be dim.
