$, Eastern European, Center City
Fodor's Review:
Old-style Jewish food and plain surroundings are unusual on Israel's restaurant scene, especially in Tel Aviv. Visitors with a yen for inexpensive Eastern European fare should give it a try. Specialties include gefilte fish, chopped liver, meatballs in tomato sauce, and borscht. When Bebale is closed to diners because of take-out activity, Vienna, a few doors away at 62 Ben Yehuda, has similar fare and prices; it's only open until 4.
