Fodor’s Travel Rolls Out Fifteen New Destinations in Popular City Guides App
One-stop-shop for travelers brings Fodor’s expertise right to your fingertips in 21 cities, with content for Las Vegas, Seattle, New Orleans, Miami and more
New York, NY (April 30, 2013) – Fodor’s City Guides apps (available free on iOS and Windows Phone) will now cover 15 new cities, from Austin to Amsterdam. The app, which has been downloaded more than 400,000 times and was named one of WIRED Magazine’s best travel reference apps of 2012, will now include 21 of the most prominent cities worldwide. The City Guides app offers travelers discounts and bookings on tours and attractions, tickets to concerts, theater, and sporting events, as well as restaurant and hotel reservations directly within the app.
Austin, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Seattle, New Orleans and Miami are now available, and City Guides for Amsterdam, Boston, Chicago and Montreal will follow in May. Honolulu, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, San Diego and Hong Kong will also be available in summer 2013. Additionally, Fodor’s has given the app, which already included New York City, Paris, London, Rome, Barcelona, and San Francisco, a whole new look. All 21 city guides are accessible within the same free app.
As before, the Fodor’s City Guides app features interactive maps and expertly vetted recommendations for travelers, just as in Fodor’s trusted print guidebooks. The updated apps include new features that make them more useful than ever to travelers, both within the U.S. and abroad. In addition to being able to book hotels using Expedia.com®, make dinner plans with OpenTable® and purchase tickets to domestic events via TicketsNow™, the apps now include access discounts on tours and attractions from Viator, world’s leading online resource for travel experiences, and tickets to European concerts, theater and sporting events via Seatwave, Europe's leading online fan-to-fan ticket exchange service.
“Fodor’s recognizes the ever-increasing demands of tech-savvy travelers and the need to engage our audience across multiple platforms,” says Amanda D’Acierno, Vice President and Publisher of Fodor’s Travel. “We are thrilled with the tremendous success of the City Guides app and look forward to sharing new and exciting information as we roll out these next 15 destinations.”
