Every year in March, Austin, Texas, comes alive during South by Southwest, a highly anticipated conference/festival that focuses on film, music, and interactive technology. For the first time ever, Fodor’s Travel is being considered to participate in three panels at the 2015 South by Southwest Interactive Festival, but we need your help to get there.
Now through September 5th, you’re invited to vote for the panels you find most interesting via SXSW’s PanelPicker site. To vote for the three panels featuring Fodor’s Travel Editor-in-Chief Arabella Bowen, click the “Vote for My Session Idea” icons below, create a voting account, and click the thumbs-up icon at the top left of the screen. Your votes will make a big impact in determining the final lineup of panels, which will be live-streamed on SXSW’s site during the festival. Below you’ll find names and descriptions of each of the panels featuring Fodor’s Travel.
Put a Face to the Name: Personalities Build Brands (panelists: Fodor’s Travel, TripAdvisor, The Points Guy)
In today’s world, anonymity is dead. Whether you’re the CEO of a large company, or a travel writer for an established publisher, consumers want to know everything about you before they invest in your company, or follow your travel advice.
This panel will give business leaders, content strategists and brand marketers the chance to hear firsthand how three different travel brands are showcasing their experts’ personalities to facilitate consumer trust and interaction.
A Picture is Worth a Million Page Views (panelists: Fodor’s Travel, Food52, PureWow)
Traffic and user engagement are the two top priorities for any digital media company. Today, media platforms are saturated with competitors and consumers’ attention spans are shorter than ever—making it harder to earn their time and clicks.
This panel will give business leaders, content creators and marketers the chance to hear firsthand how three different media companies are leveraging the power of images to grab (and keep, and engage) the attention of consumers in order to drive website traffic.
A Happy Marriage: How To Integrate Experts & UGC (panelists: Fodor’s Travel, Bon Appétit, Rotten Tomatoes)
Not all content is created equal and for years there has been a constant debate on user generated content versus expert, curated content. Some say consumers trust fellow users’ opinions more when making purchasing decisions, others say an expert perspective will always have more impact.
This panel will give business leaders, content creators and marketers the chance to hear firsthand how three different brands allow user generated and expert content to co-exist successfully, proving that these two forms of content are not mutually exclusive, and in fact can support one another.
There will be an interactive portion where panelists will ask the audience “who do you believe?”, showing them differing opinions on various topics, including local Austin hotels, restaurants, recipes, and movies.
