Thousands of Lanterns Will Light up the Night Sky in the Mojave Desert

Lantern

The aurora borealis isn’t the only must-see light show out there!

On Oct. 7th and 8th thousands of people will gather in the Mojave to release over 20,000 flame-lit lanterns into the night sky. The gorgeous display of lights is part of the RiSE Lantern Festival, now in its third year, in Las Vegas. The festival celebrates “the life, joys, dreams, hopes, and blessings of each participant” with two days of music, drinks, and food followed by the simultaneous launch of thousands of 100-percent biodegradable lanterns.

The festival also follows a “Leave No Trace” policy and is committed to retrieving the biodegradable lanterns after the event.
