Spain: Specify if you want an automatic rental car

Virtually all cars in Spain have a manual transmission—if you don't want a stick shift, reserve weeks in advance and specify automatic transmission. Call to reconfirm your automatic car before you leave for Spain.

Only Americans would assume that rental cars in Europe have an automatic transmission. Cars in Europe (rental or not) have a manual transmission. Either go through all the hazzel of booking, confirming and reconfirming a car with an automatic transmission - or go for the easy solution: Learn to drive stick like most people!
