Avoid unlicensed taxis
Think twice before getting into an unmarked cab or private car service. You generally have no way of knowing whether these cab drivers are legit before you hop into the vehicle. If you are overcharged or mistreated, you have little chance of disputing the incident. Use authorized cabs. And if you're unsure, check your guidebook or ask at your hotel or a tourist board for information about which cab companies are reputable. Be extra wary of drivers that approach you at the airport on your way out.
