DOT: Leave the Lithium Batteries at Home
On January 1, 2008, the Department of Transportation introduced new restrictions on the packing of lithium batteries in luggage. Starting immediately, passengers may not pack spare lithium batteries in checked luggage (the luggage handled by the airline). Batteries that are already installed in devices are not considered spare batteries. Spare batteries can be packed in carry-on luggage, with limitations. See the story in SafeTravel.Gov for details.
