Disney Museum to Open in SF Presidio in 2009
Should Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Jiminy Crickett ever tire of the hubbub at Disneyland, they'll have a home away from home when the Walt Disney Family Museum and Library opens on the San Francisco Presidio in August 2009. The multi-faceted, 44,000-square-foot museum, designed by architect Jay Turnbull, will provide a permanent repository for all things Disney. A children's learning center, an extensive collection of priceless artifacts and archival material, a research facility and rotating exhibits featuring Disney's animation, movies and art, plus a book store, gift shop and café all figure into the grand plan. Cinderella once sang, "A dream is a wish your heart makes." Could this be what she had in mind? Check out the Presidio Web Site for more information.
