Paris: Lodging Alternatives
Apartment Rentals
If you want a home base that's roomy enough for a family and comes with cooking facilities, consider a furnished rental. These can save you money, especially if you're traveling with a group. Home-exchange directories sometimes list rentals as well as exchanges. You might also look on the Paris Tourism Office Web site for reputable agency listings. Policies differ from company to company, but you can generally expect a minimum required stay anywhere from three to seven days; a refundable deposit (expect to pay $200-$500) payable on arrival; sometimes an agency fee; and weekly or biweekly maid service.
