Manhattan in Miami
Travelers who pine for a touch of cool New York in hot Miami should check out Gansevoort South, a new hotel and residence complex, opening in winter 2008. The mixed-use development is the first extension of New York's Gansevoort Hotel, and like its New York sister, Gansevoort South will boast a dramatic lobby, this one with an 80-foot shark tank. The 232-room hotel will occupy floors 1-8 while condos occupy floors 9-17. The development includes an infinity pool, a 24,000-square-foot teak roof deck, and a 40,000-square-foot David Barton Gym and spa. Guests and residents have access to all onsite amenities, including the hotel's crowning glory -- the ultra-luxe, tri-level Gansevoort Beach Club, with fire pits and private cabanas. At this writing, room rates aren't certain, but you can expect that a night or two here will cost plenty.
