High Tea Fit for a Queen at D.C.'s Willard Intercontinental

July 3, 2007

Travelers who appreciate the finer things in life should stop by the Willard Intercontinental Hotel for its elegant afternoon tea, held daily in the Peacock Alley dining room from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The menu includes more than 10 blends of tea from the Mighty Tea Leaf Company (do try the Marrakesh mint or ginger twist varieties), finger sandwiches on a variety of breads, and decadent pastries with swoon-worthy titles such as Chocolate Coffee Opera and Exotic Panna Cotta Raspberry Gelee. Per-person prices are $33.50 for the standard menu, or $37 for holidays and special event periods (e.g., Christmas, cherry blossom season). Add a glass of champagne for an additional $10. 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Call 202-637-7350 for reservations.
