Harry Potter Gets a Theme Park

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final installment of the multibillion-dollar Harry Potter book series, hits bookshelves in late July, bringing to a close author J.K. Rowling's publishing giant, a literary juggernaut that has generated an astonishing $3.5 billion in book sales worldwide. What will Potter fans do without Harry?

Fear not. Warner Bros Entertainment and Universal Orlando Resorts are ready to fill the gap with a Harry Potter theme park, scheduled to open at Universal's Islands of Adventure, in Orlando, in 2009. "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" will feature locations familiar to readers of the Potter books, including the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, shops in Hogsmeade, and the Forbidden Forest.

At this time, no one knows the exact size of the theme park or how many attractions it will contain, but early comments from Universal suggest that no expense will be spared to recreate the world familiar to fans of the book. The fifth film in the Potter series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, hits movie theaters on July 11.
