Royal Caribbean Megaship to Home-Port in Europe
Royal Caribbean International announced plans today to deploy Independence of the Seas -- the third in its new Freedom class of ships -- in the United Kingdom in May 2008. The ship, along with Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, will be the largest ship ever to be home-ported in Europe. Currently under construction in Finland, the ship will feature the line's signature innovations, including a surf simulator, the H2O Zone Water Park, an ice-skating rink, a rock-climbing wall, and a boxing ring. The mega-ship, which can easily hold up to 3,634 travelers, will traverse European waters mostly and make forays into the North Sea and the Caribbean.
