Paris: New High-Speed Rail Service to Strasbourg

070828_Paris_Eastern_European%20TGV_F.jpgIn June, Paris transit officials unveiled the new Eastern-European TGV line. The new high-speed train -- it travels at approximately 200 miles per hour -- allows passengers to connect to Strasbourg and Luxembourg from Paris in under 2.5 hours, Mannheim in 3 hours, and Basel and Zurich in 4 hours (5 hours in winter). All trains traveling on the Eastern line have new interior layouts designed by Christian Lacroix. Tickets run 63 euros one way. The TGV website periodically features excellent discounts. ---Lisa Pasold
