Washington D.C.: St. Regis Closes for Renovation

The St. Regis, a luxury hotel two blocks from the White House, has closed for renovations. When the hotel re-opens in autumn 2007, the 80-year-old property will have spruced up public spaces and guest rooms in addition to 15 new luxury suites, designed by Sills Huniford Associates, the New York City-based interior design firm that recently revamped the New York Regis Hotel. After the face-lft, guest rooms will include amenities like high-speed Internet access, 32-inch plasma televisions with surround sound, and DVD players. Additionally, guest room phones will feature a "Butler Button" that allows travelers to schedule room service, dry cleaning, and wake up calls. The makeover also includes the unveiling of a new Remede Spa, offering an array of sensual services.
