Silver Service from SilverJet
The burgeoning sector of all-business class airlines plying the NY-LON route just got a little more crowded. Flying between Newark and Luton (about an hour north of London), British-owned Silverjet offers 100 flatbed seats in a 767 cabin, one crew member for every 10 passengers, on-demand food service, and, uniquely, a ladies-only lavatory. However, it's the enhanced ground services that will probably persuade travelers to abandon Economy in order to avoid the arduous ordeal that check-in has become in these security-conscious times. Passengers can turn up a mere 45 minutes before departure and relax in the airline's dedicated lounge (the Silver Lounge at Newark Liberty is in Terminal B, next to Door 12 on Arrivals Level 2) while the ground team handles luggage check-in. Alternatively they can arrange to pick up boarding passes by phone en route to the airport. All this and carbon-neutrality too.
