London: Congestion Charge Unnerves Drivers
Planning to drive a car through Central London anytime soon? Better have deep enough pockets to pay the Congestion Charge. The fee, levied for entering London's West End in a private car, recently rose from 5£ to 8£ per day. Now the area affected by the charge is set to double. On February 19, 2007, the Zone spreads westward, taking in Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Notting Hill, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Pimlico and Bayswater, an area filled with tourist hotels. Masts towering over entrances to the Zone bristle with sinister looking cameras to catch the unwary. Fail to pay and the 50£ fine is automatic. Click here for more information.
