From smooth gouda to sharp Roquefort, cheeses around the world are as varied as the locations they originated from. Each of these quesos has a unique history, some are thousands of years old or made from buffalo milk, others were beloved by kings. True cheese-lovers will need to make honorary pilgrimages to all of these locales to enjoy an authentic tasting experience you can't get at your local grocery store.

I think you missed actual destination cheeses like Casu Marsu, also known as the maggot cheese of Sardinia. Illegal to import into the U.S. due to the live maggots inside (which have to stay alive or else the cheese is considered unsafe to eat), you have to travel to the island of Sardinia to eat this cheese. I found it a tasty, creamy cheese, but since there are many other delicious cheeses in the world, I can pass on eating cheese that is "moving" before my eyes.
