Recently, NASA took a break from making discoveries among the stars to uncovering one right here on terra firma. Utilizing satellites and observatories, scientists were able to hone in on and identify the site of a lost, ancient city underneath Oklahoman soil.
In order to find the city, scientists focused NASA’s LIDAR system, a laser-based remote-sensing technology that can scan for fossils and bones hidden by the earth’s surface, on Oklahoma. After analyzing their findings, scientists were able to hone in on Beaver River as the site of the Native American city, which is estimated to be 10,500 years old.
