Mexican Army Sword Tip Found at Alamo’s South Wall

Alamo

Archaeologists have uncovered the tip of a Mexican sword while excavating the grounds of Alamo. The sword is believed to have belonged to a soldier in the Mexican infantry and, according to lead archaeologist Nesta Anderson, the artifact dates back to 1835—which means it could have been used during the famous 1836 battle. The artifact was found as part of the ongoing “Reimagine the Alamo” project that has successfully discovered over 300 artifacts. The item will be on view at the UT-San Antonio Center for Archaeological Research
