Central America: Bring a flashlight

Streetlights are rare, which means that when the sun goes down, it’s dark. At jungle lodges and many resorts, power is often from generators. At a certain time of night, they are usually shut off and illumination is provided via lanterns and torches. During the rainy season, in El Salvador and possibly elsewhere, the electricity can go out for hours at time.
