“My hotel had its own private ocean” just became the new luxury travel-brag trump card. Marriott significantly raised the bar on amenities this year by pumping 5 acres of the South China Sea right into the middle of the new Sanya EDITION resort.
Currently each of the hotel’s 500 rooms has a view of the ocean. Either the private one inside the walls, or the actual South China Sea outside of them – teeming, presumably, with tourists who didn’t know that rooms at the Sanya start at just $120/night.
For that price you can kayak, paddle board, or even go sailing without braving the considerable crowds outside. Pay a little more per night, and you don’t have to share the ocean with anyone. The Sanya also features 17 villas, each with their own private ocean pools and gardens.
Wherever you live out your Last Man on Earth fantasy, save your energy. The Sanya EDITION is also home to another world-class amenity: bumper cars. In the hotel’s private fairground.
Amenities that are also worth mentioning? Three art galleries, a spacious spa, rock climbing wall, outdoor movies, and arcade games, and a miniature family cabana village.
