Fodor's Expert Review Porcão Rio's
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
At lively Porcão, the ultimate in Brazilian churrascaria experiences, bow-tied waiters wielding giant skewers slip nimbly between linen-draped tables, slicing off portions of sizzling barbecued beef, pork, and chicken until you can eat no more. The buffet is huge, with salads, sushi, and pasta and rice dishes, and enough meat-free sides to keep the staunchest of vegetarians happy. Porcão is a chain, with three restaurants in Rio—including one in Ipanema—but the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows with a view over Guanabara Bay to the Sugar Loaf make the Flamengo branch, known as Porcão Rio's, the top choice. At all branches, children up to 6 eat free, while those aged 6–11 eat for half price. In the unlikely event you have room for dessert, these are charged separately.
