The most celebrated female chef in Paris is now cooking at the Connaught in London, but her St-Germain dining room is still the setting for her sophisticated take on southwestern French food. Darroze's intriguingly modern touch comes through in such dishes as a sublime duck-foie-gras confit served with apricot pistachio sangria or pigeon stuffed with foie gras, wild strawberries, and mole. For a sampling without the wallet shock, the €58 three-course lunch menu or the €92 six-course tasting menu, both served in the plush red salon, are culinary treats.
