just back from an amazing trip to Kenya
Hi everybody!
Just got back from Kenya and I want to thank you once again for all the help and information I found on this forum!
I am working at the trip report (I kept a trip journal so it shouldn't be sooo difficult!) and also started to organise the photos, but meanwhile I'll just post the itinerary - once again - so that if anybody needs and information on these places feel free to ask!
7,8 august - Amboseli, Ol tukai
9,10 august - Laikipia, El Karama
11 august - Lake Baringo, Island Camp
12 august - Lake Nakuru, Lake Nakuru Guest House
13,14 august - Lake Naivasha, Elsamere
15,16,17,18 august - Masai Mara, Simon's camp, Ololaimutiek gate
19,20,21 - Lamu, Kizingo
22 - Nairobi, Hotel Boulevard
23 - back home
After one week of being in Kenya, we started to think that if we buy the flight tickets this autumn for next year we can find really good deals

We just crossed paths at Amboseli. I left Ol Tukai on the 7th!
You should have been there two days earlier. We were present when they rescued an 18 year old bull elephant who was stuck in the mud. It was the male employees from the lodge that did it, and it was a thrill.

Nairobi and Amboseli were cold nights and early mornings, probably about 55 degrees. Around 10 a.m. it would warm up to around 75 degrees. I wore long pants to dinner and early mornings and then switched to shorts for the rest of the day.
Tsavo was warmer, probably 80 degrees during the day and around 70 at night. Samburu is very similar to Tsavo. Am not sure what it would be in the Mara. Perhaps lle can tell you.

Weather has no more a guarantee that animal sightings. There has been some rain in the now so-called dry season. A $1 disposable rain slicker can be packed, but you'll find umbrellas available for use at lodges and camps. Rain, at this time is rare.

We had no rain in Amboseli but in Tsavo there was one day when we had three or four showers which lasted 5 minutes each. Not enough to do much good for them.
As Sandi said, almost all the lodges and camps have umbrellas in the rooms so if by chance it started to rain before dinner you just use the umbrella to get to the dining room.

I started to work at the trip report, photos almost ready (we took a lot, but after some selections... try to cut a little bit the number).

Marija, yes, we saw the migration in Mara!
Kevin, Kizingo was amazing!! Mary Jo and all the family very nice, including dogs
Jan, so sorry we missed the elephant at Ol Tukai! Did you see Kili while tehre? we weren't lucky enough, this time...
Cindy, Islan Camp is very, very nice!! But try to obtain tent no 26!!! it's the only renovated one, meaning it's the only banda (and not kind of old tent!). it's a biiiiiiiiiig difference! I can send you some photos if you like.
Susanna, the weather is ok, no rain for us (in 17 days, just a short shower in one afternoon). Hot during the day, around 35°C, chilly in the early morning and evenings (worst in Amboseli for us, around 10-12°C). In the north and around the lakes is warmer.

Yes, I saw Kili quite a few times, but I was there for an entire week. It all depends on how the breeze is blowing the clouds. Sometimes you don't see it all day, other days it is clear.
Since you missed it, guess it means you'll be ready for another trip huh?
