Does anyone have the Blond Giraffe recipe for Key Lime Pie?

I've used this exact same recipe since the mid-50's, but I use a graham cracker crust and no topping of any kind. I have had variations of it...chiffon, or made w/whipped cream, but they are not the 'original' Key Lime Pie. Yes, you can now buy real Key Lime juice in bottles...do NOT use just lime juice.

That's my husband's favorite pie! Dang it all, though, I wanted to print off the recipe, so hit the print friendly button on the screen and ran it off. My copy has a big travel channel survey right in the middle of the instructions. I'll have to go back in and will copy the missing parts of the recipe by hand. What are they thinking when they give you a "print friendly" option and then run a pop-up in the middle of it?

Orcas, all you have to do is close the survey before you print the recipe.

No_name is absolutely right about Nelllie and Joe's Key Lime Juice.

I once ordered Key Lime Pie at Ray's in Seward (Alaska) and they had Key Lime Pie on the menu, made with Nellie and Joe's key lime juice. I was impressed!

Thank ya kindly, Starrsville! You seem to be a great resource for all sorts of things on this forum, and a true southern belle in my book! (And that's a compliment!)

Gee, thanks, SB! My southern grandmothers would be proud. Now, if one had only written down her tea cake recipe. I watched her make them often - but she never wrote the directions down.

Thank you for your responses. I read an article recently that said Blond Giraffe makes their Key Lime Pie without eggs. The website keylimejuice.com does have an eggless recipe; I'll have to try that one.

Katie, the page referenced the Blond Giraffe, although the title of the recipe did not. Sorry it wasn't the right one.

I swear by Nellie & Joes and use their simple recipe on the bottle.

I use a store bought Oreo crust and double the recipe to fill up the crust.

Key lime pie is so incredbly easy to make, it will surprise you.

These Key Lime pies are yellow, not green, correct?

I have had some waiters look at me like I was crazy when I ask if their Key Lime pie is yellow or green. Real Key Lime pie is yellow. Hate the green stuff.

If you ever see a piece of green key lime pie, you should run -- not walk-- to the nearest exit.

The only key lime juice better than Nellie and Joe's is the fresh squeezed stuff from the key lime tree we had in our yard. Unfortunately we sold the house and moved -- thought about digging up the tree, but didn't dare.

Has anyone ever made key lime pie using Splenda or another sugar substitute? My daughter is getting her wisdom teeth out tomorrow, this is her favorite, but she has sworn off sugar. Please help with another recipe not using sugar, if necessary, thanks!

Aliska, it seems to me the big problem would be that you couldn't use a recipe that calls for sweetened condensed milk.

For all the Key Lime pie lovers out there, here's two great variations. Try using gingersnaps instead of graham crackers for the crust. Or try using macaroons instead of graham crackers for the crust. For those of jewish influence, the 2nd variation makes a great Passover dessert, provided you are not strictly kosher. You can use Passover macaroons, but I'm pretty sure that technically, sweetened condensed milk is not truly kosher for passover (it probably has corn syrup in it). Think i need to leave work and go home and make a pie.

I have been doing the Nellie and Joe version with fat free condensed milk, makes a delicious and not terribly "bad" treat....and it is soooo easy.
