Which Botanic Gardens - Brooklyn or NY?

If you were to visit one, which one?

Also, any restaurant recommendations (ethnic food) near your Gardens of choice?

Well - there is no "New York" Botanical Garden. There's one in Brooklyn and there's one in the Bronx - both of which are in NYC.

Have never been to the one in
Brooklyn so can;t compare.

Have you checked the websites to see what's happening at each when you're here?

I'm pretty sure that the one in the Bronx is called the New York Botanical Gardens.

I haven't been to the one in Brooklyn. But I liked the NYBG very much. Great perennial border. Right near the gift shop.

I was just at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to see the cherry blossoms, But other than for that, I very much prefer the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. The conservatory there is amazing.
It also puts you right near the Bronx Zoo, if you're in the mood for that

NY Botanical Gardens are glorious, especially at this time of year. The Brooklyn Botanical gardens rate just below them. We are so lucky to have both. Nearby the NY Botanical is the Arthur Ave. Italian district. I am not too sure of what restaurants to recommend there. Perhaps someone would care to give their opinion. I know for Italian food staples this area is great.

Is it feasible to do the Bronx Zoo and the gardens as well as a meal on Arthur Street on the same day or would it be a better idea if time is not an issue to look at seperate visits?

Yes the one in the Bronx is called The New York Botanical Garden.

I've been to both. The one in Brooklyn seems smaller and somehow nicer. Much of the one in the Bronx is just really big open or forested space, with scattered gardens.
We were especially impressed at the Brooklyn one however because the cherry blossoms were in full bloom making it very special. I suppose what's in bloom at the time you go would make a difference in which one you preferred.

Yes you can do the Gardens in the Bronx followed by a meal in the Arthur Avenue area which is close by. Roberto's is considered the best restaurant in the neighborhood. They do not take reservations and will be crowded (as will all other restaurants in the area) for dinner on nights when the Yankees are at home.

In June, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens has a spectacular display of roses. Truly worth a trip.
