Other pools may excel in size or glitz, but the pool at the Bonneville offers a uniquely soothing experience in a picturesque natural setting. Nearby hot springs provide warm, mineral-rich water to the recently renovated spa and pool, and the unbeatable Columbia River Gorge location make it worth a special trip. Lifeguards are present at regular hours, making this an excellent choice for families.

Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge Glenwood Springs, CO
You can find one of our favorite hotel pools in...the Rocky Mountains? Indeed, and with good reason: the town of Glenwood was named for the natural hot springs that provide mineral water to this attractive property. Go for a hike, then rest your bones and relax your muscles in the healing waters of one of two huge pools. For destination hot springs, this is the best in the West.

Grand Wailea Resort Maui, HI
Go huge or go home, as the saying goes. This place is more than a pool—it's a water park. The Grand Wailea has nine pools on six levels and water features that kids adore, including slides, caves, a water swing, waterfalls, and a "river" that connects several pools. The excellent—and equally over-the-top—lodgings and facilities at this resort make it one of the best on Maui.

Hanalei Bay Resort Kauai, HI
This pool is one of the best on Kauai, with authentic lava-rock waterfalls, an open-air hot tub, and a kid-friendly sand "beach." But what really sets it apart is the stunning view of Hanalei Bay and the Napali Coast: the architects used this setting to great effect, by building the resort angling down the cliffs, with the pool as the crown jewel.

Hard Rock Hotel Orlando, FL
Electricity and water are a dangerous combination, but this is a fact the Hard Rock chooses to ignore (and we're glad they do!). Their sprawling 12,000-square-foot pool features an underwater sound system, weekly poolside movie screenings under the stars, and private cabanas with HD plasma-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. The Hard Rock is perfect for large multigeneration family trips and for smaller families looking to keep children entertained with water slides, sand beaches, and interactive fountains.

Hotel Gansevoort New York, NY
The Gansevoort—a glamorous, aloof beacon in the trendy Meatpacking District of New York City—is known for having a constant pool party on its rooftop deck (during summer only, of course). The terrace is the place to be in the city, with its free breakfast, heated 45-foot pool, myriad terraces, and swank lounge area. A superb choice for urban poolside lounging.

Hyatt Regency Mission Bay San Diego, CA
The outdoor pool decks round out this stunning property and all-around great San Diego experience. There are three pools, with 120-foot water slides, and a kiddie pool with a smaller slide of its own. The pools wind around palm-tree–shaded lounge areas, and the tops of the masts in the nearby marina remind you that the sea is not far away—though you might not ever want to leave this relaxing retreat.

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas, NV
Pardon us if we sound like we're gushing, but we can't get over this place. Hands down, this is the mother of all Vegas pools. The experience includes an 11-acre beach spread with a huge wave pool, a Euro-inspired topless pool with plush daybeds called the Moorea Beach club, a meandering river, and some of the cushiest cabanas in town. It was a tough choice with so many other Vegas contenders in the running, but they just can't beat the Mandalay.

National Hotel Miami Beach, FL
The National Hotel has remained apart from South Beach's raucous pool and party scene, instead remaining true to Art Deco past and a calmer atmosphere of by-gone days. The most spectacular feature is Miami Beach's longest and most beautiful pool, which stretches from the tower to a duo of tropical tiki bars, a series of comfy black-and-white-striped cabanas and poolside tables, then the beach. It's a stunning pool in a perfect location.

Pointe Hilton at Piestewa Peak Phoenix, AZ
Traveling families escape the Phoenix heat at the Hilton's "Hole-in-the-Wall River Ranch," a massive water park that includes waterfalls, a 130-foot waterslide, and a 1,000-foot "river" that winds around the property. Elsewhere on the 9-acre recreation area are minigolf courts and tennis, and hiking and biking trips are right next door at the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.
