Airfare Money Saving Tips
Choose off-peak travel days. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday are typically the cheapest days to travel. Flights on these days are often less crowded, so you may also have room to spread out.
Fly on a holiday. Just as the most expensive fares tend to be around holiday weekends, some of the least expensive are on the holiday itself, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Be flexible with your departure times. Early morning and late-night flights are often less expensive, as they're outside the peak travel times of most business and leisure travelers.
Consider secondary airports. Discount airlines often use smaller, secondary airports where parking and car-rental rates may be cheaper than major hubs. The only catch is, you may need to factor on more ground-transportation time.
Do the math. Many airlines offer great prices upfront, but tack on fees for checked bags, seat selection, and onboard entertainment. Check the incidentals before you book to make sure you're getting the best all-around deal.
