Bergen is the departure port for Hurtigruten's 11-night round-trip Norwegian cruises (one-way cruises also are available) to Kirkenes, near Norway's border with Russia.
Hurtigruten vessels have cash registers in the dining room, because some passengers hop on and sail for a couple of days, paying for everything à la carte.
