Choosing Your Line & Ship
While cruising options in South America have increased in recent years, this is still a region where the luxury cruise lines dominate. The majority of sailings regularly scheduled in South America are on ships in the luxury fleets of cruise lines such as Silversea Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, and SeaDream Yacht Club. It's possible to book on premium lines, including Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Celebrity Cruises, but for a mainstream cruise ship the selection is limited to Norwegian Cruise Line. While sailing along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, all ships call at various major cities along the way such as Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Valparaiso, with scenic cruising on sea days. Only the small, luxury ships stop at off-the-beaten-path ports like the popular beach resort at Punta del Este, Uruguay.
