An easyCruise is pay-as-you-go cruising. While a low fare gets you on board, don't forget to bring your wallet. Everything on board -- even food -- will have you reaching for your ship's charge card.

EasyCruiseOne was originally a luxurious small ship but was rebuilt to cram in nearly twice as many passengers as it was designed for. Space and privacy are at a premium.

Be prepared to entertain yourself on easyCruise -- there are no shows, no library, no casino. You won't find any formal entertainment at all. The best bet is to pack your own iPod, a good book, and a deck of playing cards. There is a nightly DJ and an occasional passenger participation game.

Introduced in Europe with great fanfare in 2005 by Stelios (like celebrities, he goes by one name), the business model for easyCruise was easily the quirkiest endeavour to hit the cruise industry. Stelios, known as a "serial" entrepreneur and the guiding force behind low-fare air carrier easyJet, has designed a cross between a traditional cruise ship and a ferry.

Choose If ...

You've never considered a traditional cruise but find the idea of sampling a different destination every day is appealing.

You don't mind paying extra for anything and everything on board in exchange for a very low up-front fare.

Your expectations and your budget are low.

Don't Choose If ...

You have a high-maintenance wardrobe and tend to over-pack. Only "suites" have close-to-adequate storage.

Your expectations are for pampering attention and over-the-top services with facilities to match.

You can't take care of yourself and make your own good times without a rigid schedule of activities.
