Presented By
Ocean Village 1

The line's namesake cruise ship was originally designed to be Sitmar's Fair Majesty but was launched directly into Princess Cruises' fleet as Star Princess when Princess acquired Sitmar. Before joining Ocean Village in 2003, it was redesigned to appeal to the young, trendy British market, which tends to be a bit non-conventional in a don't-tell-us-what-we-want-to-do manner. Interiors are bright and cheerful, and there's no stuffiness in the décor of the public spaces or the cabins. Bright colors and a casual atmosphere prevail throughout the ship with both lively and quiet spaces, but there's no library. The pool area is particularly interesting with structures devoted to contemporary circus performances.

The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises
Written by Linda Coffman
What's really included in your cruise fare? Which cabins are the best and which are the worst? What cruise line has the largest standard cabins, and which cruise lines have rock-climbing walls? The answers to these and a thousand other cruise-related questions can be found in Fodor's new guide to Caribbean cruises.

Check the deck plan carefully when booking -- cabin views in category II on C Deck are blocked by safety equipment. Those, plus category NN (inside on D Deck), aren't exactly romantic retreats either; they have twin beds that don't convert to a single larger bed. Also killing the Love Boat atmosphere are lower beds that cannot be pushed together when the upper third and fourth berths are in use.
