Theme nights, such as British Night, '60s and '70s Night, Western Night, and Tropical Night are festive occasions when passengers dress up and participate in related activities.

Special-interest cruises may bring aboard masters in specialized fields such as music, gardening, and painting. You may even find an at-sea version of the popular "Antiques Road Show" television program on board.

To complement the number of single-occupancy cabins, Gentlemen Hosts are on hand to dance with unaccompanied ladies.

Family-owned, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines proudly boasts a Norwegian heritage of seamanship and a fleet of small ships that offer an intimate cruising experience. While the fleet doesn't consist of new vessels, all were well constructed and have been refitted since 2001. Two sister-ships from the defunct luxury Royal Viking Line, Royal Viking Star and Royal Viking Sky, have reunited under the Fred. Olsen house flag and now sail as Black Watch and Boudicca.

Choose If ...

You are partial to British traditions and food and especially favor a proper tea-time.

You don't like cigarette smoke. Smoking is strictly limited on board all ships and banned in Boudicca cabins.

You don't like taxis. When ships are docked more than 15 minutes walking distance from the center of towns or from beaches, a shuttle is available for a nominal charge.

Don't Choose If ...

You want to purchase alcohol for consumption on the ships. When you reboard after a day in port, alcohol will be collected and returned at the end of the cruise.

You like extravagant entertainment. Decidedly non-lavish revues and stand-up comedians are about all the smallish showrooms can comfortably stage.

You must have instant access to your email. Computer rooms are small, and wireless connections are non-existent.
