Overview

Fred. Olsen's newest ship, formerly the Crown Dynasty, is more modern in design and layout than her fleetmates, with a light-filled atrium and a swimming pool surrounded by a sunning space set into the top deck. Known for providing a somewhat bumpy ride when it encounters high seas, the ship is nevertheless well-suited for warm-weather voyages. Braemar primarily sails one- to two-week itineraries and shorter mini-cruises.

Public rooms fill the length of the Lounge Deck and are surrounded by a wide wrap-around promenade lined with cushioned deck chairs. While most ship atriums are located mid-ship, Braemar's is off center to starboard and is highlighted by glass walls. The atrium opens up to the Skylark Club, Palms Café, and Lido Bar, which are located on two successive decks above the Lounge Deck.

Restaurants

Breakfast and lunch in the main dining room are generally open seating, while dinner is served in two assigned seatings. The Palms Café is a casual buffet option for meals and late-night snacks, and while it features panoramic views from within, it also has some outdoor seating. A grill is located on the pool deck for warm-weather dining poolside. Light meals from room service are complimentary and available from 10 am to 10 pm; beverages can be ordered around the clock.

Accommodations

Not large by today's standards, Braemar's cabins are attractively furnished but have limited storage space. They are equipped with a television, telephone, a personal safe, and a hair dryer; all categories have showers in bathrooms. Suites have balconies, sitting areas, and refrigerators. All suites have a VCR; guests in certain suite categories also receive welcome-aboard champagne, flowers, a fruit basket, and bathrobes for use during the cruise. Numerous cabins are outfitted for single occupancy; sole occupancy of a cabin with two or more berths is subject to availability. Four cabins are designed for wheelchair accessibility.
