Overview
Built for the luxurious, long-distance cruises for which Royal Viking Line was known, Boudicca retains much of her grace and style. As on Black Watch, passengers have plenty of space, both on deck and inside, as well as two swimming pools, and a large fitness center and spa -- unusual for a ship of this vintage.
With its Art Deco feel, the Lido Lounge is a popular spot for a leisurely drink, conversation, or late-night dancing. The imposing Observatory is a spacious lounge high atop the ship that is the ideal spot for relaxation, whether you're looking for a quiet spot to read or simply want to enjoy the view through the large windows located forward and to both sides of the ship. For budding artists there is a Crafts Room where hands-on activity sessions are held.
Restaurants
Breakfast in the two main dining rooms -- as well as a smaller annex off to the side -- is generally open seating while lunch and dinner are in two assigned seatings. The Secret Garden Café is a casual buffet option for meals, late-night snacks and the occasional specialty evening buffet. While it is a lovely garden-like setting with elegant wooden panels and trellises, there is no outdoor seating. For casual snacking options near the pools, there is the Poolside Buffet and Marquee Pool Bar. Light meals from room service are complimentary and available from 10 am to 10 pm; beverages can be ordered round the clock.
Accommodations
Boudicca's spacious cabins and suites were designed for long-distance voyages, so they are bigger than on many ships of this size. All are equipped with a television, telephone, a lockable drawer for personal items, and a hairdryer; many categories have a bathtub/shower combination. Suites have balconies, sitting areas, and refrigerators. Only the top two suite categories also feature mini-bars, and CD/DVD players; suite guests also receive welcome aboard champagne, flowers, and fruit basket and bathrobes for use during the cruise. Numerous cabins are outfitted for single occupancy; sole occupancy of a cabin with two or more berths is subject to availability. Four cabins are designed for wheelchair accessibility.
