The Harbor
My favorite part about visiting Annapolis was the eclectic mix of old buildings and new businesses. The harbor area shown has the best of both worlds, old town charm oozing history and the convenience of new world needs. Who knew a hardware store could look so pretty?

Smith Island cake
It doesn't get any more Eastern Shore than this! A slice of Maryland's state dessert — Smith Island cake — and some delicious, local, organic strawberries.

Flying Free
It was a gorgeous day in February when my friend and I decided to explore Federal Hill. On the top of the Hill the lookout to the Inner Harbor is so beautiful, we couldn't resist the opportunity for some exciting photos!

Standing Tall
I was sitting in the parking lot at the Quarry, and looked up to see this majestic sight. Trees standing tall, with the tips of their branches fogged up by the cloudy weather. Any nature lover would appreciate this sight.

Stroll at Dusk
My boyfriend suggested we take a stroll along the docks of the Inner Harbor and clearly the best time to do this was at dusk. The colors in the sky are so vibrant, and the light reflecting from the water amplifies the boat's mirror images. It was the first walk I had ever taken with him around the harbor, and it is now one of our favorite places to spend time.

History and Old Lace
On our way home from Maryland vacations, we often stop at the historic Savage Mill in Savage. This historic complex, which started as a textile weaving business on the banks of the Little Patuxent River, now houses a variety of shops that sell antiques, home furnishings, artwork and restaurants.

Maddie at Muddy Creek Falls
This is the highest waterfall in Maryland with a perfect plunge pool for Maddie to enjoy a swim. It's a toss-up what she enjoyed more - the swimming or the trail through one of Maryland's last remaining stands of old growth forest in Swallow Falls State Park.

A yard with a view
This photo of the Elk River, a tributary to the Chesapeake, was taken from the front yard of my Dad's home. The views change daily, you will never capture the same photo twice. It is particularly beautiful at night when the ships and tugs go by, lit up like a holiday display.

Imagine
It was quite an experience for us to watch the look on our grandson’s face as he imagined himself the captain. As the crew we followed orders and waited patiently while he docked without incident.

After the storm
We had taken our 5 year old grandson to downtown Baltimore. We were walking along the pier near the Light Street Pavillion when there was a sudden down pour. We thought the day would be a wash out, but as the clouds parted I was able to capture this picture of the USS Constellation, docked in the Inner Harbor. He commented that "the boat looks so new after the rain”.

People Tree
Maryland is memorial to me because of its people and their diversity as much as it is about the environment and its diversity. The people tree represents this important facet of not just Columbia, but Maryland as a whole.

Autumn Sunset
The masts of the sailboats stand out against the sunset and the waterman's boat is lost to the dark - but the water reflects all in the transition from fishing village to sailing destination.
