Nature @ it's best
My girlfriend & I had just finished a week of vacation & packed up a cooler to enjoy our last evening. As we sat down, we witnessed a wedding end, tide rolling in among the chairs on the beach, bicycles passing to finish their rides & folks ending their day on the most beautiful natural beach...the moon was rising behind us as we watched the sun set. It was a perfect end to a wonderful vacation.

Face in the Rock
During a hike at the wildeerness park the rock face seems to follow you as you walk the trail. Some say it looks casper the friendly ghost. There is so much history right in our backyard.

boat floating on the lake
It was so hard to believe we were at 12,500 feet above sea level. It is the highest navigable lake in the world. It was so blue it was amazing. the mountains in the distance are in Bolivia

Sunset over Broad Creek
For the first part of our week on the island, evening thunderstorms to the west had hidden sunsets. This evening gave golden tones to the water, and delicate shadings of orange to blue across the sky.

Looking for Sea Creatures
Maddie, almost 2, enjoys walking in the tidal pools looking for baby crabs and fish. The beach is so wide, especially at low tide, and provides a big playground for the young ones.

Tired after the Shannon Tanner Show
Enjoyed watching my six grandchildren sing and dance with Shannon Tanner. Always something fun to do for families at Hilton Head Island that is free. They love their helicopter hats.

Water Lily at Monarch
We vacation almost every year at Monarch at Sea Pines. It's a beautiful time. All the flowers, including this water lily were in full bloom.

It's always a toss up whether to sleep in or get up for the sunrise in Sea Pines. This time the sunrise won out.

So many teachers...
Our extended family loves getting together & we try to vacation as a group every couple of years. Hilton Head has been one of our favorite destinations. We thoroughly enjoy sharing any teachable moment with grandchildren. Here we are pointing out (maybe too many instructors?)a beautiful oceanic bit of nature with our youngest.

what a ride....
The unusual packed sand makes for great bike riding down the beach. I love this photo of my 2 kids and the ominous clouds.
