So I'm going to get to Mammoth Lakes in a couple days and I know it's last minute planning but I just needed some advice from people who have been to Yosemite before on how to tackle a one day trip. Im going with my two younger teenage brothers and we wanted to see the sights that make Yosemite such a talked about national park.
I was planning on leaving on 6 am and seeing Tuolumne Meadows, then taking the shuttle from there. I really have no idea what to see, so any advice would be appreciated. I plan on staying at Yosemite the whole day so the longer day the better.
Thanks!

Will you have a car? You could drive from Mammoth and be in Tuolumne Meados in what - an hour or so. From there - over to Yosemite Village/Valley Floor - can take an hour and a half - or longer - depending on the traffic, whether you are driving or taking the shuttle.
Would suggest you try to spend the night in the Village area - Curry Village usually being an option with last minute cancellations, etc. http://www.yosemitepark.com/curry-village.aspx
When you enter the park boundary, the ranger will stop you to pay the entrance fee. He will give you a map showing all the roads, trails, waterfalls, sights, and places to eat and buy stuff. Armed with this info, you can explore this beautiful park. If you are driving, why are you taking a shuttle?
Taking the shuttle makes no sense at all. The shuttles only serve the high country, they don't go to Yosemite Valley.
YARTS does run regular bus route, but I think there are only one or two buses a day.
