Yellowstone to Glacier Summer 2014

Hello-- Any suggestions for my sister and me who will be traveling from Yellowstone to Glacier next summer? Any towns or points of interest along the way to break up the drive? Any places you'd suggest staying overnight?
Thank you! (this is part of a 2 week trip in which we plan to see Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone, Glacier and then Banff NP in Canada) Thanks for any suggestions you may offer!

This is what we saw on our way to Yellowstone and then between Yellowstone and Glacier:

Where are you coming from? Are you flying and renting a car or are you driving your own car from home?
Where are you going before/after?
My favorite in the Glacier area is the Meadow Lake resort in Columbia Falls Montana. It is easy enough to drive from Mammoth (in Yellowstone) to Glacier in a day that you don't need to stay overnight anywhere in between.

Two weeks which should be busy...
Have you your lodging's plan and reservation.
Both GTNP, YNP and Glacier are rapidly sold out...
I think you have 2 options between YNP and Glacier :
- to do a short hike on the morning in YNP and then drive to Glacier with an evening arrival...
- or departure early in the morning and I will recommand a detour by Virginia City, a nice spot to see a ghost town...
yes, it's commercial but it's well conserved and not too off the beaten path...Then drive to Glacier for an evening arrival.
If you choose to sleep between YNP and Glacier , for me you "loose" more than one day in parks..

You didn't say when next summer you'd be going? The Going to the Sun Road (which connects the east and west side) in Glacier National Park doesn't open up completely until at least the third week in June and hiking trails in higher elevation will still have snow.

That said, the best area of the park for hiking and scenery is on the east side, particularly Many Glacier. Lodging books pretty quickly within in the park and there's only a handful of lodging outside of Many Glacier, so book soon! I would recommend Swiftcurrent Motor Inn within the park. You're close to all the most popular and best hiking trails: Iceberg Lake, Grinnell Glacier, Swiftcurrent Pass, Cracker Lake.

There's lots of choices for accommodations on the west side of the park, but if you want to get to Many Glacier or Two Medicine, it's about a 2-3 hour drive from the west.

As wave725 wrote, Many Glacier is the place to be.

Not only hiking and scenery but wildlife as well.

Grizzlies can be seen roadside and early morning and early evening at Fishercap Lake will most likely have deer and or moose.

Fishercap Lake is a 15 minute level walk from the far end of the lower parking lot at Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

When I'm there I go to Fishercap Lake every morning before hiking and every evening after.
